Best Long Distance Hiking in Africa

The Congo Nile Trail follows the watershed between the Congo and Nile Rivers in western Rwanda along the shorline of Lake Kivu. It passes by picturesque bays, inlets, and waterfalls, and makes for a fascinating exploration of the country. Hiking season is more pleasant during the drier parts of the year, so it is best to avoid the two rainy seasons.

The Naukluft Trail wanders through extremely rough terrain and conditions in southern Namibia. Though its length is relatively short, the trail reaches both far above and far below sea level. Due to the harsh conditions, it is highly recommended to hike this trail with a guided group.
